What it involves

What coaching is, and what it is not.

Coaching focuses on the present and the practical. Together we set goals, learn the framework, and build small practices you can repeat between sessions.

Coaching is not therapy. It does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions, and it is not a substitute for counseling. If counseling would serve you better, we will say so and help you look for licensed care where you live.

Through the NeuroRelational lens. Coaching teaches the belonging prediction and the three gaps as skills, with practices you repeat between sessions.

How it works

From first contact to ongoing work.

  1. Consultation

We confirm coaching is a fit and not a substitute for care you need.

  2. Coaching agreement

A written agreement explains what coaching includes and its limits.

  3. Sessions and practice

Regular video sessions with specific practices in between.

Fit and safety

When this is not the right first step

  • You are experiencing a mental health crisis or thoughts of harming yourself or others
  • You are seeking treatment for a mental health condition
  • There is violence or coercion in your relationship

In a crisis, call your local emergency number. In the U.S., call or text 988.

Questions

Common questions

I live in Alaska or Ohio. Should I choose coaching or counseling?

If you want help with mental health concerns, choose counseling. If you mainly want skills and structured practice, coaching may fit. We can help you decide.

Can I switch from coaching to counseling later?

If you are located in Alaska or Ohio, yes. Counseling begins with its own intake and consent.
